Exploring the Ranch

teleki ranch
thanksgiving 2010

my great aunt and uncle have a most glorious ranch outside of yosemite
growing up, we went every thanksgiving
since getting married though i haven't been
so this was danny and the kids' first experience

let me just say it did not disappoint
freezing, but wonderful

eden at the barn door

charlie was all smiles

meeting the horses

outside the tack room

just hanging out

with auntie abby on one of many tractors

saying hi to the friendly goat

in the hay barn
please keep in mind we are at the ranch
and wearing ranch chic attire

she flies!

charlie kinda flies

climbing the hay bales with mimi

look out poppa here she comes

if you promise to catch me.....

pretty sure we are going to like it here.

horseback riding on Thanksgiving day

i love horses
always have

so it was fun to find out my kids are pretty into horses too

me and my girl brushing Scout

eden riding Nate

she is quite the horse woman

charlie arriving in style to get a ride

eden got a nice long ride
and i got a nice long walk

charlie's turn!

cami leading eden around the corral

doesn't this look like it should be in an anthropologie catalogue?

doubling up on our way back to the barn
charlie and caitlin

eden and ian

alas, i never did get to ride.
i had to go prepare my mashed potatoes for the feast.
and friday was cave day
and saturday it rained all day
and sunday we cleaned up and left

admittedly i feel like i really missed out!

feast!

oops
i am seriously lacking in photos of the actual feasting

but boy did we feast!

and my cousin m.e. surprised us all with news of her engagement
which was the best "i'm thankful for" ever

rounding out the night by the outdoor fireplace

a new sign

time for a new sign to mark the entrance to the ranch

such a big helper

eden and madison

my boys!

working hard, especially tom (the one holding it up!)

some of the cuties

happy happy

dog pile #1

dog pile #2
yes these are separate dog piles on separate days

all the great grand babies

clayton fam with the finished product

The Cave Trip

on ranch property there are caves
like actual spelunking

so we had a hike to the caves day

my dad's cousins

laura.virginia.carol

eden wasn't too sure about the whole hiking thing

but she got into it

stragglers

cute girls with some very cool moss

all the ladies in my family

picnicking atop the caves
eden and caitlin and madison sunning

just some of the group!

tuckered out from all the adventuring

after a shower the boy was out

out for the count!!

The Hoedown

so while we were there it was Richard's 21st birthday
so why not have a party in a field?

it was the most amazing

we had a line dance caller and everything

bonfires were set up on either side of the dance floor
to keep non-dancers warm

we had to bundle up though, because as previously established
it. was. cold.

just look at this awesome set up
thanks to carol and randy

some of us dancing girls
in our fancy boots

everyone dancing the night away

uncle don and aunt martha
the benefactors

they are unfailingly generous

and so kind

it was truly the best thanksgiving ever.
